Sunday 4 May, Vancouver

May the Fourth be with you. Shocking night's sleep. I reckon it was lights out about 11 and I was still awake at 2! Oh well, I dont think anyone died from a bad night's sleep so will just have to put on my big girl pants and make the most of the day. We all had to be in the foyer for a 6.45 am departure to Capilano Suspension bridge where we had breakfast in their dining room. It wasnt very appertising but as Im not much of a breakfast person, I wasnt bothered. Time to then go exploring across the suspension bridge and then the treetops walk.
Beautiful views mid way across the bridge.
It truly is a lovely park and I would have liked to stay longer but we only had an hour. I did fit in the cliff walk though.
It really is a must see park but give yourself at least half a day there.
Back on the coach and we head to Granville Island. Having been there yesterday and being disappointed, there wasnt anything I particularly wanted to see again, so spent my time in Toyland which was such a great olace for kiddies. It has been kitted out really well, with lots of different activities for children, plus plenty of shops for parents and grandparents to spend their money! Almost wished I had little ones to buy for...... No, not really!
Then its time to head to Stanley Park to see the totems. The Vancouver marathon is still running so there are still road closures and detours.
Photo opportunity of the Lions gate Bridge which we crossed. it is a major connector of Vancouver and the north shore.
We are dropped back at the hotel about 1ish and we decide that we want to go to Gastown even though Dale has saud it will be very crowded. It's a good 20 minute walk but the weather is fine so wasnt a problem. The steam clock time was 17 minutes fast, but the steam and chimes occurred at the correct time which was a bit odd.
We were feeling a bit peckish so had a lat lunch 2.30) at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I had clam chowder and a ceasar salad. plus because it was happy hour I had a large glass of Chardonnay! I think Jo was a bit dssppointed that she hadnt read the menu properly, as she ordered a latte!
We then did a bit of shopping. I bought myself a windcheater, fridge magnet and tea bags, plus a little something for Miss Emily. It was a bit of an uphill walk back to the hotel, but we arrived back safely in one piece. No idea how many steps we have done all up today, but its many thousands.... (Jo's counter says over 13,000). Back in our room which has not been cleaned, I make a cup of tea, find someone to service our room and then collapse on the bed to do the blog. Im starting to feel very weary now but have to pack my case ready for tomorrow mornings 5.30 bags out! Just at that moment Jo suggests that it is wine time so we head down to the barand while she had G&T, I'm happy to do my Dirty gin martini with 3 olives! Jo likes her drink so much she had another! Time to head back to the room to pack the suitcases. It's a pain that the bases have to be out so early but we don't have to be in the foyer until 6.45 so my pjs are going to be in my carry on bag along with my toiletries and will have to go on the coach and then train with me. Definitely need an early night tonight as it has been a good day of sightseeing but I need my sleep.
