Saturday
Another lovely day ahead after a liesurely morning.
Hedley Museum celebrated the swashbuckling mining era that saw Hedley as the biggest gold producer of its time! The day is called Stamp Mill day as the Stamp mill played such a major part of local history. the first Stamp was dropped on May 4, 1904 and ceased in 1955.
We wandered down to the museum and I enjoyed wandering through the museum.
We then went outside and sat in the garden where we were entertained by 2 men playing guitar and later ukulele. They made me laugh when they had been asked last year what their name was and as they don't perform together professionally they didn't have a name so decided to be called whatever they were having for lunch that day which happened to be beef dips. Today's lunch is Beef on a Bun so that's what they called themselves today!
And lunch really was pulled beef in a hot dog bun plus a variety of salads that were made by local women. Vicki did a top pasta salad! Desserts were different slices of you could bus a 25c icecream in a cone.
Time to head home as Vicki had friends coming to visit on their way back to North Vancouver. No sooner did Linda and Jim leave, when Joe's nephew Neil arrived. And when all the visits had left for the day, Vicki produced a lovely charcuterie board which became dinner. Plus it was Margarita time again.
During the afternoon while we were outside, I noticed a woman stop by the free community craft cupboard that Vicki had set up along the front fence. She was there quite a while and clearly wasn't sure about it, but some time later she came back with a young girl who very much enjoyed checking out all the treasures in the cupboard and went away with a huge smile on her face when she finally decided on what she would take. I'm sure the woman was still perplexed over the cupboard which encourages anyone to take or bring any craft items as give aways. Vicki keeps it well stocked with an assortment of items. In fact, I intend having a hunt through it at some stage. I also brought some things with me to put in the cupboard.
We eventually head back indoors and I'm happy reading for a while but the head cold or allergy, whatever it is, has gotten the better of me so I head up to bed after another lovely day in Hedley.
