Singapore Day 1

As we had eaten so much on the plane, didn’t really want much for dinner so instead headed for the lounge where,as luck would have it, it was Happy Hour.... so a glass of white wine underway and a light supper of chicken satay while we listened to a couple of singers (the girl was brilliant, the guy not so much) and then time to head back upstairs to our room for an early night. Awoke to clear skies but rain is forecast for later today. We were in absolutely no rush to do anything so eventually headed for breakfast at about 9.30 and then back to our room to plan our day. As part of our Singapore Stopover package we have a two day pass for the hop on hop off coaches. It is only a 5 minute walk from our hotel to our nearest bus stop so get on the coach and after a very pleasant couple of bus rides get to Haji Lane which I’d read about as a good spot to visit.

We weren’t disappointed even though there was light rain at the time. Lots of quirky little shops offering all sorts of goodies. Again, as luck would have it we were a little bit peckish as it was about 2 o’clock by now, where we happened upon a delightful little bar where we shared tandoori chicken wings, naan bread and you guessed it, glasses of white wine.

The rain then stopped and we headed back on our bus to Suntec Hub in order to catch another bus to get back to our hotel, but we missed it by a minute and had an hour to pass so went into the shopping mall where a brand new Skechers store had just opened and I found a pair of shoes I simply couldn’t leave the store without, as did J. We were both very happy with our purchases especially as it was 29% off a second pair so we split the saving! Time to get back on our next bus and back to our hotel where it is time for a welcome cuppa and the chance to update the blog.
