Thursday 5 June, Cawston

It's going to be a hot one today!31 or more. After at least 3 failed attempts for Owen, an RCMP officer from Princeton, to visit so that I can give him some SAPOL shoulder patches,he finally comes (along with Kirsten who I think is not happy sharing the young man that she knows) and I had over the should patches from different Oz states, plus some tie pins and a NT police baseball cap. He is really chuffed. In return he gives me 2 RCMP shoulder patches and an RCMP challenge pin. I've offered to keep a lookout for any other Aussie police stuff he might like and he gave me his business card so I can send them to him. Such a nice guy. Oh to be 28 again and know what I know now!
Poor love, Vicki even got him to stand next to Copper Karen the giraffe for a photo! Badge exchanges made, it's time now to head off to Cawston for Vicki to get some more vegetable plants. A large osprey nest has pride of place near the river.
More great scenery on the way, and we see Deer a we are leaving the area. Have seen quite a few Deer around the place, some long horn sheep, but no bears yet.
Vicki hasn't found all the plants she is looking for so we head off to her favourite nursery for another 12 vegie plants. The offer of buy 4 get 2 free is a draw card and plants are very much cheaper than back home to start with! Time to head for home. Joe drops us off at the Grand cafe just down the road from their home where we meet up with Kate and Melissa. I have a grilled cheese and ham sandwich which is served with chips and a pickle. What's with the pickle? And the chips are potato chips, not hot chips, ha ha.
Vicki and I aren't home again very long, via a quick trip to the store next door to pick up some things for dinner tonight, and Shirley drops in for a visit. I really like her and her timing is excellent as it is wine time and she is enjoying a glass of Nk'Mip with me while Vicki has bubbles. It's a lovely catch up and all too soon Diane is at the door to whisk Shirley away. Time for me to get dinner underway for a spaghetti bolognaise using Vicki's home grown tomatoes. We start watching the movie The Accountant, but it's gotten late and we were all tired so off to bed and catch the rest of the movie another time.
