Saturday, 31 May, Penticton

Breakfast as usual.
Back into Penticton today to do a major shop. Vicki and Joe will have been in Hedley 4 years on Monday so are hosting an afternoon tea, plus Vicki and I are making lunch Wednesday in the community centre so need to stock up on our ingredients for meat pies and desserts. Canadians aren't big on pies as a main meal. Pies to them, are desserts so it will be interesting to see what they think of having a hot meat pie for lunch. The drive to Penticton is a scenic as ever.
The Similkameen Valley is like a huge Orchard and there are fruit trees and vines throughout the area. Lots of large sites have stalls out front of products too, where they sell their products direct from the farms. Vicki's happy place is a lovely plant nursery we visited the other day.
Love this little lake we pass where people are fishing from.
The weather is starting to change and some dark clouds are forming the nearer we get to Penticton but it is still warm and now getting a bit humid. As we get into town there is a wind surfer and people enjoying the sunshine on the sand.
4 shops later we have most of the supplies purchased but still need a few things so return home via Keremeos for a final shop for the day. By now the weather has really done a 180. Dark skies turn the lake water to almost black and it is really windy. No rain but the super strong winds have me worried about the window I left open in my room upstairs. We get home and unpack. Only effect we can see of the wind is that the sun hats on 2 of the giraffes have been blown off! Easy fixed. Time for a late lunch of Joe's BLT sandwiches and a glass of wine. Plenty of time for some reading and dinner is Joe's ginger beef and noodles which is delish. We watch the end of a programme we had been watching 'The Inheritance' and soon enough it is time for bed. Another big day tomorrow, and I need my beauty sleep.
