My Hong Kong flight left on time. Premium Economy on a Virgin plane is one heck of a huge come down from Cathay BC... sigh... 19 hours and a lot of fitful sleep in a barely reclining chair with not enough foot room. But safe and smooth landing in the UK at 5.25 a.m. Got through Customs and Immigration easily - which really was a waste of everyone's time as I was only in transit but still had to collect my luggage and then find my way to Terminal 1 from Terminal 3, book in with Lufthansa and then have a 5 hour wait. Had I known how quick it would be to get through Customs I could have caught an earlier flight to Munich, but everyone in the know always says to have at least 2 hours between flights in Heathrow to allow for all the likely delays. So after absolutely no delays and my suitcase being about the first one off the plane - clearly another benefit from the initial Business Class booking as it had a Priority tag on it, I am now in Terminal 1 having had a very nice chicken salad sandwich and coffee. Had to get help from a lovely lass at Information to set me up on the internet - I've told her that she is now my new best friend and I could see how clearly impressed she was by that. In fact so happy is she with our new found friendship that she insisted that should I have any more problems on the internet to come back to see her. What a nice young girl! Not sure that everyone in Australian airport terminals can boast being as friendly or helpful!
I sit here pondering what awaits me on my little European adventure. What lucky lady is going to end up sharing a room with me on our Imperial Europe sojourn? What will she be like and will I make her one of my new best friends? Time will tell. Will Munich become my favourite European city? There is a welcome reception tonight at our hotel so I look forward to getting to my hotel room and having a very long hot shower before I ready myself to meet my new group of travelling companions for the next 10 days. I've worked it out that I have now been up since 5 a.m. Thursday morning which means that I have been travelling almost 32 hours so far. Am a bit over planes and airports right now...
Upgrade AND quick and easy access through Heathrow. Even God must know how good (?) you are! We are still jealous.
