Friday 2 January

A bit cooler this morning but still bright sunshine which is great because our tour today takes us to the Peak tram with gorgeous views across Hong Kong. I manage to find a little something for VJR which sums up this holiday nicely and hopefully is to her eclectic taste.
Because most people live in high rise apartments there aren't many dogs on the street but those that are, are well cared for. You can even weigh your dog for free at the top.
Back on the coach and we then get on the world's longest outdoor escalator (we only do 4 levels). Until 10 am it runs downwards to allow workers to get to work and kids to school. After then it runs upwards for all the locals doing shopping and ofcourse for tourists. Other times, you have to use the stairs if it isn't going the direction you want.
At the top we have free time to walk about Tai Kwun which was formerly the Central police station compound, plus the court.
Now it's mainly lots of cafes and play ground as a cultural landmark. We then walk along Hollywood Road where we visit the Man Mo temple estimated to have been built more than 150 years ago.
Back on the coach again and we are dropped at a jewellery store that claims to be one of the remaining ones where items are hand made (but clearly not all of them!) Although there was no hard sell, it was a waste of time for me as all items were hundreds through to many thousands of dollars and nothing spectacular (in my opinion). So back on the coach again and we are now stopped at the promenade where the Avenue of Stats starts. The Bruce Lee statue was very popular.
Lovely views across the harbour too. Back on the coach and we are now off to lunch which is a 10 course Dim Sum tasting at Tim Ho Won (awarded Michelin star from 2010-2021). It was okay. some items were delicious and others not so much. It certainly was filling, but became quite rushed. And so ended our tour. Lisa was our guide for the day and was very good.
We managed to find our way back to our hotel and put our feet up for a while. As happy hour is calling us, it's time to head to the middle room bar and enjoy a crisp white wine or 3! We are both feeling pretty worn out from another full day of touring so decide we don't want any dinner and head back to our room for an early night. It is another full touring day tomorrow, and we are in denial that our HK holiday may be coming to an end. Mind you we are already in discussing on what we may be this time next year. Another cruise may be in the offing.
