Adelaide to Singapore and Hong Kong
so now we are on the way for our next adventure.Bags packed.
Amalia kindly chauffeured us to the airport. Easy check in.
duty free purchases made and time to head for the Business Class lounge. Time for a light breakfast and a compulsory glass of bubbles before it is time to board. Pod 16K is home for the next 6 1/2 hours.
A glass of bubbles as we settle in for the flight. I'm then asked what I would like to drink with my meal and ask for the Sav Blanc which is unfortunately unavailable! What? We haven't even taken off and they don't have on board what is offered in the menu??? Just as well I don't actually have a silver spoon in my mouth as I am okay in accepting the Chardonnay.
Very smooth take off and we are on our way. Lunch is lovely with a prawn salad entree followed by prawns in ginger sauce which I pre booked.
I opted for the cheese plate instead of a sweet dessert. I had started watching the Downton Abbey grand finale movie and all was going well until about just over half way through and then the sound went funny and that brought an end to my viewing over Lunch. However a lovely flight attendant reset the monitor and half an hour later I was able to see the movie through to the end.
It was a smooth flight and a very smooth landing. A bit over 4 hours to the next flight so head to the lounge for a snack and drink. We then get on the train to terminal 2 which had some really pretty gardens. Loved the overhead water garden.
The terminals are huge so lots of walking which was a good thing. Back on a train to terminal 3 so that we can see the huge indoor waterfall on the way.
We checked out the transit hotel which we'll need to make use of for a future trip where there is a 9 hour in transit stop. Back to the lounge and the compulsory wine and nibbles. Time to head to the next boarding gate for our flight to Hong Kong. We are certainly a monitory amongst all the Asian faces.
Our next flight was late departing by almost half an hour but was certainly smooth and uneventful. Food and service good as usual.
Watched the movie Roofman which was okay, main attraction that it had Channing Tatum in it although it apparently was based on a true story.
Arriving late in Hong Kong meant that we missed our allocated gate so stopped in the middle of nowhere and had to be bused to the terminal. Immigration was quick enough but then confusion over where to collect our cases. Finally located them and straight out through Customs what we follow the signs to the taxi ranks. We got in the queue which wound backwards and forwards 4 timesuntil we final got to the front, half an hour later. We are ushered towards a taxi and are told cash only! As Julie had no local currency and I had a small amount which was meant for tipping, we were told to get to our hotels and then find an ATM to get cash for the driver. We'll that want going to happen so thankfully a we were clearly holding up the long lines a woman came over and told us that the taxi would take a credit card so in we got and 25 minutes later after being driven at breakneck speed we were deposited at our Kowloon hotel. I couldn't get the card machine to read my credit card so thr driver got in the back seat with me and pushed buttons till it worked! I'm not at all sure how many times I have paid for this ride as you don't get a receipt. Will check out my bank statement in the morning but for now I just want to get to bed.
We book into the hotel and head for room 1525 which is a typical Chinese hotel room in that it is very compact. My case is opened only sufficiently for me to grab my jammies and tooth brush. Time for bed as it is now after 1.30 and with the 2 1/2 hour time difference, I've been up for almost 24 hours and I'm a tad tired!
Welcome to Honkers.

Do I spy Brussels sprouts on your last meal there?
ReplyDeleteLove the Singapore Airport photos. Amazing.
Those pesky little intruders remained steadfastly stuck on my plate and I skirted around anything that touched them!
