And still another day at sea
Late breakfast in the cabin and a slow start to our day as none of the activities are of interest.
We wander up to the Explorer lounge and sit in on one of the at auctions. I'm amazed any thing is sold. They are printed and copies, with nothing original but they claim them to be a one of a kind because someone has also daubed a bit of paint on top! the auctioneer tried hard but very few sales. Mind you there is a sucker born every minute and one fellow bought a print for a few thousand dollars.
We then headed for lunch and after a very pleasant meal, we decided to do a proper search of the ship. it really is hard to find your way around as many of the floors do not have'through' access so we did lots of stairs and lifts.
We even found the gym and spa but won't be using them any time soon. Time for an afternoon drink and I've now discovered a dirty banana. Yum. Okay, so I liked it that much,I had another... We can now see land in the distance so I suppose it may be the Bay of Islands. Should reach Auckland about 6ish in the morning.
7Yme to head back to the cabin to get ready for dinner. Mushroom soup and then prawn balchao which was just the right level of spicy.
We then headed to the Good Spirits bar area to listen to the 2 violinists they were just finishing so then off to the Wheelhouse bar to listen to a couple and then a solo singer. Thankfully it was easy enough to get a seat so that was a nice bonus but the solo singer wasn't much chop so we headed to karaoke and were not disappointed with the variety of bad singers. And then the moment arrived when Karen from Adelaide hit the mike.
Earlier in the day when we had been wandering, we passed Karen, and Julie stopped her to let her know that we have seen her repeat performances. She told us that she lived in Seaford Downs. Julie told her that she lives in the Tea Tree Gully area and Karen said " oh... that's a nice are too!" I had to stifle a laugh at how condescending she sounded, knowing that some of the southern suburbs are definitely higher crime rates and nowhere I want to live! Anyway, we sat through a few more singers while I had a London Lemonade and then it was time for bed. Really looking forward to Auckland tomorrow and catching up with friends we met on our Croatian cruise.

Hope you're jotting down all these drink recipes.
ReplyDeleteLovely how Karen from Adelaide keeps trying at Karaoke. When you bump into her again, perhaps you could comment that her speaking voice surprisingly that bad as you had expected.🤔
London Lemonade is gin, Cointreau and sweet and sour. I have the amounts!
