6 Oct day at sea
Good night sleep and breakfast in the cabin at 9. Bit more sea movement but all good so far. After breakfast I head off to the 'first time on Princess cruises' meeting. I was on the Sea Princess over 40 years ago but as they can't find that record I'm deemed a first time cruiser. Was a bit of waste of time but got me up and moving. Wandered about the ship and am getting much better at working out what deck I need to be on at any given time.
Depending on what entertainment was where, I simply kept going from deck to deck. The vast majority of activities would do well in an aged care facility so I'm avoiding those. I think I may have already said that that Julie and I tend to lower the median age a good 15 to 30years in most places. Plus neither of us take a walking stick walker or wheelchair!
Anyway I find handy spots for coffee and invariably strike up conversations with whoever is nearby. Julie and I agree to head to deck 14 at the top of the ship to have pizza for an early lunch as we have bookef for a specially restaurant tonight and know there is a lot of food. I'm happy with 2 slices of pizza ( and I didn't eat the crusts because my hair is curly enough!) but Julie decides that she can fit in an ice cream and what an ice cream sundae it was.!!!
Anyway we then go our separate ways and in the afternoon I go to a catch up for military veterans which was nice and then more wandering and chatting to whoever crosses my path. I eventually get back to our cabin in time for a quick change and then to dinner at the Churrascaria Grill. OMG. what a meal.
I conked out with 4 more meats to go as I just couldn't fit any more in! the filet Mignon was to die for and that was after lobster bisque!
When we wanted more, we had our table disc showing green, but when we'd had enough, we turned it to red. It became problematic that Julie kept hoovering up everything in sight when I was well and truly stuffed to the gills!
Mind you I did manage to scoff down most of a huge slice of carrot cake covered in this dark chocolate.
We then waddled up to the karaoke to support a host of wannabes, but by the time Karen from Adelaide (not me, and I swear she is older) got up for her 3rd effort I had to call it a night and headed back to the cabin. Even my second martini didn't help! There is only so much of someone who thinks they are Taylor Swift, but in reality is a Kath and Kim level performer, that I can support in one go... Time for bed and let's do it all again tomorrow for another day at sea.
